Overview
The Hotel
The Hotel Astoria has anchored St. Isaac's Square since 1912 — a century of Russian history visible from its windows, from the gilded dome of the cathedral opposite to the Bronze Horseman and the Admiralty spire in the middle distance. Olga Polizzi's restoration revealed the building's Moderne bones and dressed them with an interior of deep jewel tones, Russian lacquerwork, and bespoke furniture that pays direct homage to the great pre-revolutionary decorative tradition. The hotel's two restaurants, Rotonda and the more informal Senat Bar, serve some of the city's finest food; the building's position on St. Isaac's Square places guests within walking distance of the Hermitage, the Russian Museum, and the historic heart of one of Europe's most beautiful cities.
