The Charles Hotel unveiled a redesign of 61 rooms and suites after months of meticulous renovation work, led by Rocco Forte co-founder and Director of Design Olga Polizzi. The new look draws its color palette and shapes directly from the Old Botanical Gardens next door, bringing a fresher, more vibrant sensibility to a hotel that has always leaned on its proximity to that green space as part of its identity in central Munich.
The property continues to hold recognition well beyond the rooms themselves, landing among Forbes Travel Guide's 2026 Star Award winners and scoring 94 points from Falstaff, the kind of consistent critical showing that matters more over time than any single splashy headline. The hotel's award-winning spa remains one of its quieter strengths, a reliable draw for guests who plan a Munich stay around recovery as much as sightseeing.
From September 19 through October 4, 2026, the hotel sits within easy reach of the world's largest beer festival on the Theresienwiese, giving guests staying at The Charles a genuinely central base for Oktoberfest without having to sacrifice the quiet the hotel is otherwise known for. It's a useful reminder that even a hotel built around botanical calm has a very different personality during a few weeks each autumn.
