Mandarin Oriental, Geneva's Rasoi by Vineet Holds Onto Its Michelin Star

Indian fine dining has a genuinely short list of Michelin-starred addresses in Europe, and Rasoi by Vineet at Mandarin Oriental, Geneva has held its place on that list since the restaurant earned a star in 2009. Chef Vineet Bhatia opened the restaurant in 2008, bringing a refined, technique-driven approach to Indian cooking that was still rare on the continent at the time.

Bhatia's own history in London makes the Geneva restaurant's pedigree even clearer. His flagship restaurant there, now known as Vineet Bhatia London and originally opened under the name Rasoi, became the first Indian restaurant anywhere to win a Michelin star, back in 2001. Geneva's Rasoi by Vineet carries that same lineage forward on the shores of Lake Geneva, giving the hotel a genuinely singular reason to book a table.

What makes the restaurant's continued run notable is how rare its category remains. Michelin-starred Indian restaurants are still a small enough group in Europe that each one carries outsized weight, and Bhatia's role as one of the category's original pioneers gives Mandarin Oriental, Geneva a culinary identity that stands apart from the city's more conventional French and Swiss fine-dining scene.
