Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich Named Gault Millau Hotel of the Year 2025

Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich reopened in December 2023 after a two-year, $80 million renovation, architecture by Monoplan AG and interiors by Tristan Auer, of a building that has anchored Zurich's Paradeplatz since the 19th century. Less than two years later, the hotel was named Gault Millau Hotel of the Year 2025, an honor the influential Swiss guide gave specifically for the strength of its food program.

That program centers on Savoy Brasserie, led by Executive Chef Benjamin Halat, which earned 15 GaultMillau points blending classic French technique with Asian-inspired dishes. The hotel's Italian restaurant, Orsini, is run by young chefs Dario Moresco and Gianmarco D'Alonzo, both personally selected by two-Michelin-starred chef Antonio Guida of Mandarin Oriental, Milan, a direct link between two of the brand's strongest European culinary programs.

For a hotel reopening after a renovation this extensive, a Hotel of the Year award within two years is an unusually fast validation.
