Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues Geneva named Andrea Messina Chef of Il Lago, the hotel's Michelin-starred Italian restaurant, in an appointment announced on July 2, 2026. Il Lago is the culinary anchor of Geneva's oldest grand hotel, and the handover places its kitchen in the hands of a chef charged with maintaining a well-established star.
The change comes as the hotel works through a mid-renovation of its rooms and suites led by Pierre-Yves Rochon, drawing on walnut wood, light stone, and a lake-inspired palette that echoes the property's position on the shore of Lake Geneva. On June 11, 2026, the hotel received Condé Nast Traveler's Triple Crown, and in December 2025 it hosted three-Michelin-starred chef Yannick Alléno alongside Chef Michele Fortunato for a four-hands dinner with Maison Prunier.
Overlooking the lake and the Jet d'Eau from its position on the Quai des Bergues, the hotel has long been Geneva's most storied address. The renovation and the culinary handover together signal a property investing in its next era rather than resting on its history.
