Taka-An, the Japanese restaurant at Aman Kyoto, serves traditional kaiseki with views over the surrounding forest, conceived as a culinary homage to the celebrated artist Honami Koetsu. The restaurant follows the omakase tradition, with each meal tailored to the guest by the chef's refined understanding of seasonal ingredients.

The kitchen is guided by Chef Takagi, who was born and raised in Kanazawa, trained at the renowned Kyoto Kitcho, and earned his family restaurant Zeniya two Michelin stars, an accolade it still holds. Seasonal offerings include a snow crab kaiseki through the winter months and a vibrant osechi lunch to welcome the New Year with auspicious ingredients such as abalone and tiger prawns.

Set within a hidden garden of maple and moss on the northern edge of Kyoto, near Kinkaku-ji, Aman Kyoto is defined by its serene forest setting. Taka-An gives the resort a kitchen worthy of a city that is the spiritual home of kaiseki.
