Belmond Copacabana Palace marked its centenary with a year-long program of arts, gastronomy, and cultural events, a genuinely significant milestone for a hotel that has anchored Copacabana Beach since 1923 and remained Rio de Janeiro's defining luxury address through a full century of the city's history. The hotel was named No. 11 on The World's 50 Best Hotels 2025, alongside individual category wins that reinforced its status well beyond Brazil's borders.
Starting in November 2026, the hotel enters a new phase with the renovation and reinvention of its Art Deco Pool Wing and surrounding pool area, introducing new suites with views over Copacabana Beach alongside a dedicated wellness space and revamped dining options. It's a careful modernization of a wing that has always been one of the property's most photographed spaces, and Belmond has signaled the intention to update rather than replace its Art Deco character.
Ristorante Cipriani continues to anchor the hotel's fine dining with Northern Italian cooking built on fresh, local produce and imported delicacies, while a six-seat Chef's Table offers a genuinely intimate, personalized menu experience. The Michelin Guide's 2026 edition for Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo was unveiled at the hotel in April, hosted in partnership with the city's Prefecture, cementing Copacabana Palace's role as a genuine institution within Brazil's dining scene, not just its hotel industry.
