Montage Deer Valley Names Sam Phelan Executive Chef

Montage Deer Valley named Sam Phelan its new executive chef in mid-2026, giving him oversight of the resort's full culinary program at a moment when the property is also emerging from an extensive renovation. The redesign, led by San Francisco firm BraytonHughes Design Studios, refreshed all 154 guestrooms and suites with a palette drawn from the surrounding Wasatch Mountains.

The resort has also reworked its restaurant lineup this season, retiring one of its longtime dining outlets in favor of new concepts under Phelan's direction. The changes follow a strong stretch of recognition for the property, including an Elite Traveler Top 100 Suites nod for its Flagstaff Suite.
