Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok is marking its 150th anniversary in 2026 under the theme "Unfolding Legacies," a milestone few hotels anywhere in the world can claim. The celebration included an Opening Luncheon and Gala Dinner on November 22, 2025, following a refurbishment of the historic Author's Wing and Garden Wing that completed late in 2025.

The anniversary's culinary program is its clearest statement. Anne-Sophie Pic, widely regarded as the world's most-awarded female chef, debuted at Le Normandie starting in the third quarter of 2025, while two-Michelin-starred Chef Fei reopened China House on August 26, 2025, with refined Chaoshan and Cantonese cuisine. Chef Alex Dilling continues to helm Lord Jim's, rounding out a trio of restaurants that few hotels anywhere could assemble at once.

For a hotel whose history stretches back a century and a half, on the same stretch of the Chao Phraya River it has always occupied, bringing in a chef of Anne-Sophie Pic's stature for the anniversary year says as much about the hotel's ambitions going forward as its history looking back. A hotel doesn't reach 150 years by standing still, and Bangkok's anniversary program made that case as clearly as any renovation could.
