Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa completed a two-year renovation described as the most extensive modernization in its history, a genuinely significant claim for a hotel that has operated in Baden-Baden since 1872. The project was substantial enough that German broadcaster SWR produced a documentary following the staff through the entire process, from the final hammer blow on the renovation to the very first guest checking back in.
Countess Bergit Douglas of MM Design led the redesign, working to give each of the hotel's 105 guest rooms genuine individuality while carefully preserving the restored marble floors, original tapestries, antique desks, and Black Forest woodwork that give the hotel its historic character. It is the kind of renovation that risks losing everything distinctive about a building if handled carelessly, and the documentary crew's access suggests Oetker Collection wanted the process itself treated as part of the hotel's story rather than something to hide.
Villa Stéphanie, the hotel's spa, continues to carry its own globally recognized reputation, a refined sanctuary blending holistic care with genuinely modern wellness technology. For a spa town that has drawn European royalty and aristocracy for well over a century, Brenners remains the address that set the standard everyone else in Baden-Baden is still measured against.
