Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth Rebuilt From Hurricane Irma With a New Design Vision

Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth spent four years closed after Hurricane Irma struck the island in 2017, before reopening in 2021 as Rosewood's fourth Caribbean and Atlantic resort. Architecture firm David M Schwartz Architects and interiors firm Luis Pons Design Lab led the rebuild, giving the 66-room and suite property an entirely reimagined design rather than a simple restoration of what existed before.

Dining now centers on Beach House, led by Chef Cedrik, with Pastry Chef Julien Boury rounding out the culinary team. Rebuilding from genuine storm devastation gave the design team a rare opportunity to reconsider the property from the ground up, and the result reflects a more contemporary vision than the resort's pre-Irma incarnation.

St. Barth's luxury hotel scene is famously compact and competitive, and Rosewood Le Guanahani's four-year rebuild gave it the chance to reenter the market with a genuinely fresh identity, one built specifically for the post-storm era of Caribbean resort design.
