The Ritz-Carlton is set to return to Seoul, named the preferred hotel brand for a landmark mixed-use development on the site of the former Millennium Hilton, opposite Seoul Station. The move marks the ultra-luxury brand's comeback to Korea after a 15-year absence, following a competitive selection process among the world's top hotel groups.
The hotel will anchor the hospitality component of the Iota Seoul project, a vast redevelopment at the foot of Mount Namsan comprising high-end offices, luxury retail, and the premium hotel. With opening planned for 2031, the project is a long-range one, so its timeline should be treated accordingly.
The Ritz-Carlton previously operated in Seoul's Gangnam district from 1995 until 2016, and its return reflects renewed confidence in the Korean capital's luxury market. It is among the most anticipated hotel projects on the horizon in the city.
