Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto ranked sixth among hotels in Japan in the 2025 Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards, a strong placement in a country whose luxury hotel scene is among the most competitive in the world. The recognition reflects a property built around one of Kyoto's most storied features: a heritage pond garden more than 800 years old.
The hotel leaned into that setting with new programming, launching an autumn afternoon tea in October 2025 with pastry chef Charles-Henry Lebourg and introducing a beverage program called SEY set beside the historic pond. Its signature restaurant, FUJU, continues to offer seven-course dinners with views over the garden, keeping the dining experience tied to the landscape.
Located in the Higashiyama district near many of Kyoto's most famous temples, the hotel pairs an unusually tranquil setting with easy access to the city's cultural core. The readers' recognition confirms it as one of the most sought-after stays in the old capital.
