The Joule is downtown Dallas's most design-conscious hotel, a 1920s neo-Gothic former bank tower on Main Street transformed into an art-filled destination, its lobby and grounds studded with major contemporary works, from a giant Tony Tasset eyeball across the street to pieces throughout the halls. A Leading Hotels of the World Sustainability Leader, it is famous for its rooftop pool that juts eight feet out over the sidewalk below.
The dining is a downtown draw. CBD Provisions is a modern Texas brasserie with a prime steak program and cocktails by Gabe Sanchez; Sassetta brings high-spirited modern Italian; the rock 'n' roll Midnight Rambler mixes bold craft cocktails; and the third-wave coffee shop Weekend anchors the lobby.
For a design-led downtown Dallas stay, The Joule is a standout.
