The St. Regis Bermuda Resort opened as Marriott International's first luxury-brand property on the island, choosing a genuinely significant setting: the historic Town of St. George's, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest continuously inhabited English towns in the Americas. Building a contemporary luxury resort within a UNESCO-protected town required a level of design sensitivity that a less historic location wouldn't have demanded.
The resort's penthouses introduced Bermuda's first rooftop pools, a genuinely new amenity category for the island's luxury hospitality scene, set on St. Catherine's Beach with 120 rooms including 21 suites alongside a residential component. The property was named to Condé Nast Traveler's 2022 Hot List, early validation for a hotel operating within such a historically sensitive setting.
For an island whose luxury hotel scene has traditionally leaned on more conventional beachfront resorts, The St. Regis Bermuda Resort's combination of UNESCO heritage setting and genuinely new amenities like the rooftop pools gives it a distinct identity within Bermuda's hospitality landscape.
