Rosewood Shanghai is taking shape inside a 320-meter mixed-use tower designed by Foster + Partners, one of the tallest buildings in Puxi, Shanghai's historic west-bank district. The tower sits in Jing'an District's Suhewan area, within reach of the Bund, Nanjing Road, People's Square, and Jing'an Temple, putting the future hotel at the intersection of the city's most iconic landmarks.

The finished property will include 220 rooms and suites alongside 83 Rosewood Residences, a scale that reflects how significant Shanghai is within the brand's broader China ambitions. First announced with an earlier target date, the project has since been confirmed for a 2028 opening, a longer runway than some of Rosewood's other Chinese developments.

Shanghai already has no shortage of international luxury hotel brands competing for attention, and Rosewood's decision to build from the ground up, inside a genuinely landmark Foster + Partners tower rather than converting an existing building, signals the brand wants its Shanghai debut to be architecturally distinctive from day one.
