Rosewood Hangzhou is being built within Wangjiang New City, a newly developing financial and technology district positioned as one of Hangzhou's next major growth areas. The 16-story property, spanning roughly 270,000 square feet, will offer 140 keys including 17 suites, along with a dedicated Manor Club for the hotel's most exclusive guests.
Opening timing has shifted somewhat across various announcements, with earlier guidance suggesting 2025 before more recent sourcing converged on a 2026 target, though confirmation of an actual opening date remains an open question as that year unfolds. Once open, the hotel will mark Rosewood's ninth property in China, reflecting just how central the country has become to the brand's global growth strategy.
Hangzhou's reputation rests heavily on West Lake and its surrounding cultural heritage, but Wangjiang New City represents the city's more forward-looking, business-oriented face. A Rosewood address there gives the brand a foothold in both sides of Hangzhou's identity, its historic past and its ambitious future.
