Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen picked up one of the most significant new distinctions in Chinese hospitality in October 2025, becoming one of the first hotels in the country to receive a Michelin Key, the hotel-rating counterpart to the Michelin Guide's restaurant stars. It's a genuinely new category, and being among the first hotels in China to earn one puts Shenzhen ahead of much of its domestic competition.
The hotel's restaurant, The Bay by Chef Fei, added its own recognition, earning One Diamond in the 2026 Black Pearl Restaurant Guide, China's own Michelin-style rating system, for its Lingnan and Chaozhou cuisine under culinary director Chef Fei, whose full name is Huang Jinghui. MO Bar rounded out the hotel's recognition, ranking No. 21 on the Asia's 50 Best Bars List 2025.
Between the Michelin Key, the Black Pearl Diamond, and a top-25 placement among Asia's best bars, Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen has assembled a genuinely rare trio of recognitions across hotel, restaurant, and bar categories within the same year, a sign of how quickly the property has established itself in one of China's fastest-growing luxury markets.
