Mandarin Oriental, Paris Announces a Full Renovation Led by Tara Bernerd

Mandarin Oriental, Paris is entering its next chapter without closing its doors. The hotel announced a comprehensive, multi-phase renovation program beginning at the end of October 2026, led by London-based architect Tara Bernerd, known for a residential-style approach to hotel interiors rather than the more theatrical hospitality design that dominates much of Paris. The hotel intends to remain fully operational throughout the work, a genuinely ambitious commitment given the scope of what's planned.

The renovation reaches beyond guest rooms into the hotel's culinary identity. Mandarin Oriental, Paris will introduce three new dining concepts, a new bar, a Parisian-style brasserie, and a gastronomic restaurant, all reoriented to overlook the hotel's interior garden, one of the rue Saint-Honoré address's quieter, more distinctive assets.

The renovation arrives alongside new leadership. Vincent Poulingue was named General Manager effective May 18, 2026, arriving from Hôtel du Palais Biarritz with a background steeped in French luxury hospitality. Between Bernerd's design language and Poulingue's arrival, the hotel is positioning this as a genuine reinvention rather than a routine refresh, timed for a Paris hotel market that has rarely moved this fast.
