How to Book Aman-i-Khás: Tented Luxury and Tiger Safaris at Ranthambore

October 2026 · 7 min read

Ranthambore is one of India's great tiger reserves, a landscape of dry forest, lakes and the ruins of a thousand-year-old fort, and Aman-i-Khás sits right at its edge. The camp is small and seasonal, closing through the monsoon, and the whole experience is oriented toward the park: early starts, long golden afternoons, and the quiet thrill of the search. It is Rajasthan at its wildest, paired with service and comfort of the highest order.

The ten tents are vast, each six metres tall, drawn from the Mughal campaign tradition, with a sleeping area, a lounge and a bathing area divided by drapes, cooled and warmed to the season, and lit by lanterns at night. Several configurations suit couples and families, and a dedicated batman, or valet, looks after each tent. It is camping only in name; in every other respect it is one of the most romantic rooms in India.

There is no fixed menu at Aman-i-Khás; the kitchen cooks to the camp's rhythm and your preferences, serving Indian, Chinese and Continental dishes in the Dining Tent, around the fire pit, or on a private table under the stars. Lunches and sundowners are often arranged out in the landscape, a step dinner in the bush or a drink on a ridge at dusk.

The heart of the stay is the safari, led by expert naturalists into the park in search of tiger, leopard and the reserve's extraordinary birdlife, twice a day. Between drives there is an Ayurvedic spa, a pool, and time to simply rest. For more of Aman in India and beyond, see Amanbagh and our guide to which Aman resort is right for you.
