Hotel Principe di Savoia Milan Announces a Major Restoration Ahead of Its Second Century

Dorchester Collection announced in July 2026 one of the most significant investments in the history of Hotel Principe di Savoia, a restoration meant to prepare the Milanese landmark for its second century since opening in 1927. The hotel will close temporarily starting January 1, 2027, with a reopening targeted for 2029, giving the project roughly two years to work through a building that has been part of the fabric of Milan for nearly a hundred years already.

The scope is genuinely substantial. Plans call for significantly enlarged guestrooms and suites, a limited collection of private residences, a new spa and wellness destination, additional dining concepts, and a rooftop venue looking out over Milan's skyline, a feature the current building doesn't have. It's the kind of project that goes well beyond a typical refresh and closer to a full reimagining of what the hotel can offer once it reopens.

In the meantime, the hotel continues operating normally, having picked up a Forbes Travel Guide Four Star Award in 2025 as a marker of where it stands heading into the closure.
