Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni has looked out over Lake Como from its promontory above Bellagio since 1854, run by the same Bucher family since 1918 and now into its fourth generation of stewardship. In July 2025, it became the first and only property on Lake Como admitted into Relais & Châteaux, a distinction that had eluded the entire lake for the association's entire 70-plus-year history.
The timing wasn't coincidental. The admission followed a significant renovation across the hotel, most visibly the opening of Luce del Lago, a 16,145-square-foot spa built around an Etruscan-inspired hammam, along with a revamped Baci da Bellagio beach club on the water's edge. Between the two heated indoor pools and one outdoor pool, the property now offers a wellness program that matches the scale of its historic public rooms.
Inside, the hotel's Empire, neoclassical, and Liberty-style architecture houses named suites that trace the guests who have stayed there, including a Churchill Suite honoring one of its more famous visitors. Mistral Restaurant, led by Chef Ettore Bocchia, remains the hotel's Michelin-starred anchor, serving lakeside dinners that have long made Villa Serbelloni one of Bellagio's defining addresses, now with a Relais & Châteaux shield to match.
