The Grand Hotel et de Milan has been Milan's discreet grande dame since 1863, on Via Manzoni a few steps from La Scala. Its most famous resident was the composer Giuseppe Verdi, who lived here for decades and died within its walls, and the hotel still wears that operatic heritage lightly and elegantly.
The dining is a Milanese fixture. The restyled Caruso Nuovo Bistrot serves a gourmet menu by two-Michelin-star chef Gennaro Esposito, mixing the flavors of Naples and Milan; the Don Carlos, named for Verdi's opera, offers traditional seasonal Italian amid La Scala memorabilia; and Gerry's Bar pours cocktails in an atmosphere of relaxed elegance.
For a historic, central Milan stay near La Scala, the Grand Hotel et de Milan is a benchmark.
