Four Seasons Resort Zanzibar, announced in January 2024, is a planned beachfront resort on Pongwe Beach, developed in partnership with Albwardy Investment across a 126-acre site. Trade press estimates point to a 2027 opening, though this has not been confirmed by Four Seasons, so the timeline should be treated as provisional.

Plans call for 60 private villas ranging from one to three bedrooms, with interior design by MOMA and eco.id and a dining program envisioned to include a signature seafood restaurant inspired by the local fish market, a Levantine wood-fire grill, and a Mediterranean all-day restaurant. The villa-only format signals a focus on privacy and space.

Zanzibar's turquoise waters and spice-island heritage have made it one of the Indian Ocean's most romantic destinations, and a Four Seasons would give it a major luxury anchor. It marks the brand's continued expansion across East Africa.
