Four Seasons Resort and Residences Dominican Republic at Tropicalia will be the brand's first property in the country, rising on 60 acres of beachfront along Samaná Bay on the island's northeastern coast. Developed in partnership with Cisneros Real Estate, the resort is under construction with an anticipated 2026 opening, so travelers should treat the timeline as targeted rather than confirmed.
The design comes from Brazilian architect Isay Weinfeld in a tropical modernist style drawing on native materials and the island's colonial-era towns. Plans call for 95 guestrooms and 25 three- and four-bedroom residences, set on a working coconut plantation and organic farm, with the developer's Fundación Tropicalia having run community programs in the region for over a decade.
Samaná is one of the Dominican Republic's most naturally beautiful regions, known for its whale-watching and unspoiled coastline, and a Four Seasons would give it a genuine luxury anchor. It is among the most anticipated Caribbean openings on the horizon.
