Four Seasons Hotel Cartagena Opens in a Restored 16th-Century Landmark

Four Seasons Hotel Cartagena opened on April 2, 2026 in the historic Getsemaní district, bringing the brand to Colombia's most romantic city. Rather than build new, the project converts two landmarks, the 16th-century San Francisco Temple and the 1920s Beaux-Arts Club Cartagena, into a 131-key hotel with residences, weaving centuries of the city's history into a single property.

The interior design was led by the late François Catroux, and the restaurant The Grand Grill, a steakhouse from Major Food Group, occupies the former Club Cartagena space, anchoring a lineup of eight restaurants and bars. That culinary depth signals an ambition to make the hotel a destination for the city, not just its guests.

Set just outside the walled old town, Getsemaní has become Cartagena's most vibrant quarter, and the hotel's restored facades tie it directly to that neighborhood's character. The opening marks one of the most significant luxury debuts in the Caribbean in 2026.
