Curtain Bluff Reopens in Antigua Under New Ownership After a Multi-Year Renovation

Curtain Bluff has occupied its namesake bluff, dividing two beaches on Antigua's southern coast, since 1962, making it one of the original luxury resorts in the Caribbean. For 63 years, that meant one thing above all: continuity of ownership, first under founder Howard Hulford and his family for the entirety of the resort's history. In November 2024, that streak ended when the Scott family acquired the property, its first ownership change in more than six decades.

Rather than treat the handover as a risk to the resort's character, the new owners used it to fund a multi-year renovation, unveiled in time for the November 2025 season reopening. The Sea Grape, the resort's beachfront restaurant, came out of the renovation with a refreshed Italian-Antiguan menu, while a new adults-only Wellness Area, complete with a yoga pavilion and infinity pool, gave the property a dedicated space it had never had before.

The resort's identity, though, remains built around what it always was: a genuinely old-school, all-inclusive Caribbean address, with Executive Chef Christophe Blatz leading The Tamarind Restaurant's five-course nightly menu, a sommelier-run Wine Cellar hosting themed dinners, and two private beaches framing the bluff itself. Sixty-three years in, Curtain Bluff has proven that new ownership and old character aren't mutually exclusive.
