I think I found my favorite cocktail…. EVER!!
May 2019 · 2 min read
I had a blast at Spago at the Four Seasons Resort in Maui recently and here’s a drink you HAVE to try! One that I can’t stop thinking about and dare I say one of my favorite cocktails I’ve EVER ordered?!! I wasn't in the mood for wine so I decided to opt for one of their specialty cocktails. If you know me, you know that whenever I'm choosing a drink and conveying my desired concoction to a bartender, it always goes something like this: 'Can I have something with tequila that's not overly sweet? Maybe something refreshing with cucumber, light sweetener, something crisp with a little kick.’
Now, I truly love when a restaurant offers not only a great wine list but also well-made and creatively named cocktails, and this menu had it all. The names were playful, and each cocktail sounded unique and exciting. Having names like "Mo Money Mo Problems," "Tequila Me Softly," and "Hot Legs," is a great way to kick off the evening and provide fun conversation. The cocktail that caught my attention was "Indecent Exposure." It’s got: blanco tequila, mezcal, pineapple, lime, jalapeño, cilantro, and mint. I knew it would be green and refreshing, and with the slight spice of mezcal, it was exactly what I was craving.
My drink arrived, and WOW! Everything was perfectly muddled and shaken. The bartenders use a Japanese hard shake technique for their cocktails, resulting in a drink that's perfectly balanced and then poured over a big cube. It embodied everything I love in a drink. I'm not usually a big cocktail person, but this one changed my mind!
P.S. Last year I celebrated my birthday in their private room at Spago Beverly Hills location because, well, I'm a devoted fan of their exceptional food and their top-notch service and hospitality. This Maui Spago experience was nothing short of extraordinary, but what really surprised me was discovering the artistry of their cocktails. I absolutely cannot wait to return to Spago or any other Wolfgang Puck restaurant to try some more.
Thanks to Spago and Wolfgang Puck for always being 5-star, and a special shout-out to Executive Corporate Chef Lee Hefter, who has worked tirelessly to create the amazing cocktail programs for all of the restaurants.
