The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort Wins Best Design Resort as Chef Christian Pedersen Relaunches Cargo

The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort appointed Christian Pedersen as Executive Chef in January 2025, bringing experience from Hilton Dubai Palm Jumeirah, Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah, Conrad Rangali Maldives, Six Senses Zil Pasyon, and Constance Lemuria, a résumé spanning some of the Indian Ocean and Gulf's most respected luxury properties.

Pedersen's arrival coincided with the resort being named Best Design Resort at the TTM Awards 2025, and he quickly put his own mark on the culinary program, reopening Cargo with an Indian gastronomy menu co-developed with Chef Jolly. The resort also completed enhancements including an expanded two-bedroom family villa and upgraded wellness and recreation facilities.

Additional recognition followed at the World Travel Awards 2025, with wins for World's Leading Luxury Hotel Villa, World's Leading Luxury Island Resort, and World's Leading Luxury Resort, a genuinely comprehensive sweep for a single property. Between the design award and Pedersen's culinary relaunch, the resort has built momentum across both its physical spaces and its kitchens simultaneously.
