Pilots fly the Ascend through a Garmin G5000 avionics suite with touchscreen controllers, synthetic vision, and full flight regime autothrottles that reduce workload from takeoff to landing. Longer maintenance intervals, including engine overhauls as far apart as 6,000 hours, keep the aircraft flying and lower the cost of running it.

Why It Matters

The Ascend's significance goes beyond its specifications. Textron Aviation and NetJets signed a record breaking agreement for up to 1,500 Cessna Citation jets, which means many travelers who fly fractionally or by jet card will find themselves aboard an Ascend without ever choosing it by name.
